NorCal House of Chess’ Group Class is one of our most popular activities at the club. Most of our students begin their chess experience in our group classes. This year, our kids learned a lot and did pretty well in several tournaments they participated in. Some of them even qualified in the top 100 nationwide list! If you want to be part of in-demand group lessons, please sign up early. For beginners, we make sure that our kids enjoy and learn chess! For our advance level, we prepare them to become State and National Champions! 3 years ago, 40 of our kids participated at the National Junior Congress in Irvine, California. We won 6 out of 7 categories! Last year, we participated in 5 categories and we won 3 of them! All of them have attended our group classes! This year, we won 5 out of 6 National Titles for the Team!
Weekend/Weeknight Classes: Classes are grouped according to chess level and ratings. There are multiple classes offered depending on the number of kids. Our curriculum in our group classes has been very popular since we’ve trained and produced several State, National & International Champions!
Our Classes are coached by In-House Coaches Ted Castro, International Master Omar Cartagena, International Master Kim Yap, IM-Elect Ronald Cusi, WFM Sana, WFM Bada, Andrew Kubak and Seth Castro or sometimes we’ll have a guest Grandmaster!

Physical Fitness Program for Chess Players
NorCal House of Chess has produced many National & International Champions. When kids compete in these top-level tournaments, physical fitness is paramount. Recently, we sent several kids to Greece for the World Youth Chess Championships that lasted for 2 weeks. They had to play one game each day for 11 rounds. Each game lasted as long as 5-6 hours! We also had several kids who competed at the North American Chess Championships in New York that required them to play for 7 rounds @6 hours each round. Hence, the need to prepare these kids not just to be mentally prepared but physically prepared as well.
